Well renowned singers from different ‘gharanas’ of classical and semi-classical music would be a part of this show.

The performers gave a splendid performance at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan. To begin with the series of performances, the programme was first featured Vandana Mishra.

Vandana was born in a highly academic family. She started singing as a child with her parents and later on she started learning from Pt. Arun Mishra of Faizabad . She became popular in Awadh region for her good voice quality and well-mannered sober performances. At present she is considered as one of the finest exponents of ‘Awadhi lok Gayan’. A part from these songs she performs on a high pitch, she is also known for her nice singing of some of the popular folksongs.

She began her performance with a semi classical Awadhi song leaving the audience mesemerised. As she began singing the audiences were listening to her with rapt attention. later, an overwhelming performance was presented by Gauri Pathare.

A glittering gem in the crown of Indian classical music, Gauri’s interest in Hindustaani classical vocal music was aroused by listening to her mother, Vidya Damle, a disciple of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki. She later on followed her mother’s footsteps by receiving extensive taalim for several years, initially from late Padmashree Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki and thereafter from Pandita Padma Talwalkar till date. This training blended in her the gayaki of Jaipur, Gwalior and Kirana gharanas.

Vocalist of mesmerizing melodies, Gauri Pathare has always enthralled her audiences with her performances. Her voice is her forte and she delved deep into the spiritual essence of Indian classical music to blossom into a musical genius. As the Gayan Parv concluded on Sunday it was an enthralling experience for the music lovers to witness such a grand closure of Gayan Parv.
