Home Minister Babulal Gaur has suggested that the Centre should make Bhopal the sub-capital of India. He made this proposal through a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi which he handed over to him at the airport here.
Gaur alleged in the letter that some organisations are indulging in anti-India activity which creates an anti-national atmosphere in the country. In order to carry on with the effective steps being taken by the government, it is "not only necessary to make a sub-capital but it is absolutely essential. Strategically also Bhopal is situated at the Centre of the country and is very secured," the letter stated.
Gaur said that it is in the interest of the country to make a national sub capital and for that Bhopal is the most suitable place in the country.
The Minister also highlighted historical, religious, industrial and environmental importance of Bhopal, especially the round-the-year moderate climate of the city which is very favourable for creating sub-capital of the country. "Modi assured me that he will look into the demand seriously," Gaur said.
He also highlighted rail, air and road connectivity of the MP capital with other parts of the country to prove viability of the proposal. “In view of the above characteristics, I humbly request you to declare MP capital, Bhopal as the sub-capital,” he said.
Gaur in his letter to the PM Modi said that besides being gifted with natural beauty, MP’s capital is also giving Asia’s largest sweet water reservoir Bhojtal.
