Minister of State Krishna Gaur attended a Women’s Day ceremony at BMHRC on Saturday, where she inaugurated a refrigerated centrifuge machine, paid tribute to Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims, and praised women’s contributions to healthcare and society.

She planted a sapling in memory of the gas tragedy victims before unveiling Aur In Sabke Beech, a poetry collection by physiotherapist Dr Nehal Shah. BMHRC’s acting director Dr Manisha Srivastava presented her with a special postal cover marking the hospital’s 25th anniversary.

Addressing hospital staff, Krishna Gaur highlighted women’s growing influence in economics, politics, sports, and other fields. She commended female healthcare workers for their dedication and called women the true custodians of India’s cultural and traditional values.

She assured full support for BMHRC’s development, acknowledging the life-saving work of its staff. Dr Srivastava thanked her for visiting and noted BMHRC’s efforts to screen women for blood disorders through year-long health camps.

The hospital installed two new refrigerated centrifuge machines to replace outdated ones. Dr Srivastava explained that these machines process blood samples at controlled temperatures, ensuring quality components for patients requiring transfusions due to cancer, anaemia, thalassaemia, haemophilia, accidents, surgeries, and emergencies.

Since 2000, BMHRC’s blood bank has collected 80,000 units, producing 2.12 lakh blood components and benefiting 1.65 lakh patients.
