Home and Jail Minister Babulal Gaur met Union Industries Minister Anand Geete in New Delhi on Monday. He presented proposals regarding permission for BHEl area shops to be converted to double-storeys, new college building, providing residents of the area treatment facility in Kasturba and other basic amenities like roads, water, power etc.
Gaur also urged Geete to hand over unused land in BHEl area to the state government for setting up an IT Park. Geete assured to take a decision within 15 days on the proposal for providing facilities to BHEl area residents after a meeting with senior officers. He informed Gaur that delegations from BHEl area will also be invited to the meeting. Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur was also present on the occasion. Gaur informed that number of BHEl area residents including retired BHEl employees is about five lakh.
They have been denied treatment facility at Kasturba Hospital. He also presented the Union Minister a copy of memorandum handed over by BHEl area residents to him in this connection.
The state government is unable to construct a hospital in BHEl area due to unavailability of land there. Similarly, building of BHEl college has also become decrepit and is also short of space in proportion to number of students.
