Gas victims' organisations accused of bungling relief, compensation

Published on:

Gas victims’ organisations have earned a lot of money by misleading the gas victims in past 30 years. There should be a system in order to monitor the financial condition of these organizations,” said Sanyukta Sangharsh Morcha Madhya Pradesh - Gas Pidit Sangharsh Morcha President Shamsul Hasan.

While speaking in a press conference here on Wednesday, Hasan alleged that the Government and the NGOs working for the welfare of the gas victims have always cheated the gas victims. The gas victims are being deprived of proper health treatment and compensation.

Organization’s member Azhar Ali Khan alleged that no compensation has been provided to the victims by the central and the State Government. The government has spent the compensation money on constructing new buildings.

The Government is keen to take over the Bhopal memorial hospital. The Government has an eye on the fund of the Bhopal memorial hospital which is deposited in the ICICI bank.

Hasan told that the organization has urged the Supreme Court of India that the hospital would be ruined if the authority of the hospital would be given to the state government.

Organization’s Women District President Natasha Singh demanded that the property of the NGOs, which are working for the welfare of the gas victims, should be checked with the help of investigation agencies.

She further demanded that the properties of these NGOs should be seized. The condition of the hospitals is grim in the state and the government should upgrade the facilities of the hospitals. The organization would demonstrate a protest on October 3 in order to get the demands of the organization fulfilled, she added.
