A major accident was averted on Saturday when people on time informed a private company in Banganga area in the commercial capital of the state, about gas leakage from its domestic gas pipe line, police said.
When gas began to leak from the pipe line of Avantika Gas limited after it was damaged by a JCB machine engaged in digging operation, alert residents informed the company, which rushed its officials to repair the damaged pipe. About 2 scm gas leaked due to the damage.
A company official said that a police complaint will be lodged against the JCB driver for carrying out digging without informing. The company supplies gas to 1,400 households in the city.
