Apparently peeved over police inaction, a couple made an abortive attempt to commit suicide on the office premises of IG (Indore range) Vipin Maheshwari here on Saturday for the second consecutive day.
On Friday also, the couple had tried to commit suicide by dousing kerosene over themselves on the official premises of Indore IG following denial of MIG police to lodge FIR against rape accused.
The cops at IG office informed about the matter to IG Vipin Maheshwari who taking cognizance of the matter, sent them to the office of additional SP Monica Shukla for further action.
Husband of the victim, a resident of Nehru Nagar locality of the city on the condition of anonymity, informed that some days back, three listed criminals of their locality identified as Manohar Maratha, his sons lucky and Chetan kidnapped his wife while she was on her way to work, kept her in their captive and raped her repeatedly for 17 days before setting her free.
