Gwalior based Gajra Raja Medical College students who were accused of being involved in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) or Vyapam scam have sought justice or permission to die from President Pranab Mukherjee.
The students — Manish Sharma, Raghvendra Singh, Pankaj Bansal, Amit Chadha and Vikas Gupta — had secured admission to the MBBS course at the college after clearing the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) in 2010.
In 2013, they were accused of passing the PMT along with one-and-half dozen other students using fraudulent means after their photos and signatures in the admit card allegedly failed to match with the college identity card.
A student Manish Sharma alleged, “The Special Investigation Team cleared us of all the charges after forensic, fingerprint and other relevant tests. Yet, we face discrimination at the hands of college authorities. We are deliberately failed in our examinations.”
He said that they were suspended when a first information report (FIR) was registered against them. later, they approached the High Court for permission to continue studies, which was granted.
He further said that the probe in the MPPEB scam being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, has added to their woes.
Another student Punkaj said, “We are not worried with the CBI probe. However, a lot of our time has already been wasted due to the earlier probe. We want that the probe is completed in our case, cleared at the earliest and assurance that our studies are not affected.”
He stated that he and some of his friends had even cleared other national level medical entrance examinations, but they chose to take admission in the state's medical college due to proximity to their homes.
He said that he and other students have penned a missive to the President that either they be provided justice or be given permission to end their life.
