Union Road Transport, Highways and Sea Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has congratulated Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for bamboo-based innovations in the State. In a letter, he hoped that Madhya Pradesh will lead the country in bamboo sector. Referring to recent consultation meeting on ‘Bamboo As Change Agent for a Better Country’ at India Trade Centre in New Delhi, Gadkari said that this meeting was historic in respect of chalking out roadmap for new concept of bamboo-based development in the country.
lauding Madhya Pradesh State Bamboo Mission’s active participation for success of the meeting, Gadkari expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Chouhan. Gadkari has referred to some major points discussed at consultation meeting including efforts to get included bamboo development task force in NITI, preparation of white paper by all Ministries on efforts made in this sector, coordination between all concerning departments and organisations pertaining to bamboo, necessity of National Bamboo Development Policy and organizing Global Bamboo Summit to boost international bamboo trade.
Gadkari informed that he has asked Mission Director Madhya Pradesh Bamboo Mission AK Bhattacharya to ensure proper action for compliance of decisions taken at the consultation meeting. Union Road Transport Minister Gadkari chaired the consultation meeting held by the Central Government in coordination with Madhya Pradesh State Bamboo Mission, which was participated among others by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Joel Uraon, Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh, Union Science and Technology and Geology Minister Harshvardhan, Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Commerce and Industries Nirmala Sitaraman, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Industries Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sudarshan Bhagat and bamboo experts from country and abroad. Madhya Pradesh has been appointed coordinator in this project. All concerning Central Ministries and states are contacting Madhya Pradesh over this.
