Congress is in decline and the Central government is in ICU (Intensive Care Unit). lok Sabha polls can be announced any time before the term of the present government expires, said former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari at a public meet in Ujjain on Sunday.

Gadkari asked party workers to begin preparing for the elections keeping this fact in mind. Praising Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he said the development work, particularly those for the poor and the farmers, would serve as a model for other states. The philosophy of integral humanism had been turned into reality in the State, he added.

Targeting the Congress, he further said while other parties were dynastic, the BJP was concerned with betterment of the life for the common man.

Recalling the achievements of BJP-led NDA government, he said "Atal Bihari Vajpayee changed the face of more than six-and-a-half lakh villages in the country by finalizing the blueprint of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) within a week."

"Even after five decades of independence, the villages, farmers, students and workers of the country were marginalized. The villages had no roads and it was difficult to reach the mandis, courts or schools. Vajpayee felt the pain of the villager as soon as he became the Prime Minister of the country."

"When the proposal of PMGSY was placed before him, he directed the officials to prepare a blueprint for implementing the scheme within a week. The scheme has changed the face of six-and-a-half lakh villages of the country. Road revolution went hand in hand with economic revolution," Gadkari said.

He further said the prediction made by Swami Vivekananda would become true. "The 21st century belongs to India and BJP will be the flag-bearer of the development revolution. Party workers should gear up for Mission-2013 and general elections in 2014," he said.
