The classic music and dance lovers of the city were mesmerised by the splendid Bharatnatyam performance by G Ratheesh Babu.
Ratheesh performed at a classical programme ‘Nritya Sopan’ here on Thursday at Shaheed Bhavan. Ratheesh is a graceful and gifted dancer and a classicist in the field of Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam.
He managed to captivate the attention of the audience with the uniqueness, depth of emotions and complexity of the technique and movement patterns of Bharatanatyam. He created wonderful impression as she performed before the Bhopalites.
The event began with the performance of Shweta Nayak with Ganesh Aradhna in raga Arohi adi taal leaving the audiences spell-bounded. Her movements on the rhythm appeared really smooth to the eyes of the audiences.
The performance was followed with Devi Chamunda ‘Om Treem’ by G Ratheesh Babu. He gave this performance in taal malika which basically showed the life of Ardhnareshwar. As Shweta and Ratheesh gave performances one-by-one they created a great impact over the audience and they enjoyed the show whole heartedly. The next performance ‘Vardam was given by Shweta Nayak followed by Asthpati which was based on the love of lord Krishna and Radha creating an ambiance of love, purity and tenderness.
Ratheesh and Shweta then gave a strong and a tremendously beautiful performance as Rukmani Pravesham. They wrapped up their performances with Shanker Shri in pure Bharatanatyam.
The audience enjoyed virtuosity of the dancers and the tenderness in music was reflected in the complex footwork and captivating poses during the performance. The costumes, make-up and presentation of the performers left the audiences spell-bounded. The performances were delightful mosaic of movements, whose geometry, lines and format were near perfect.
