France’s Consul General from Kolkata on Friday visited Puri and met rescued French lady Catrina at the Nilachal Nari Seva Sadan. He enquired about Catrina’s relatives in France and assured that the lady would be sent back home soon. IICs of Konark and Puri seabeach police stations, among other officials, were present.
Notably, 52-year-old Catrina had been rescued by the Konark police after she was spotted begging in public by social activist NA Ansari. She had visited Odisha on tourist visa 6 years ago but could not return France. After she spent all her money, she had to resort to begging. She was staying in mutts, temples and by roads for years. In the meantime, she had lost her mental balance and become ill.
