Four people including a 15-year-old boy fell unconscious while cleaning a sewer line in Sharda Nagar on Wednesday. The condition of the boy is reportedly serious at Hamidia hospital.

Soon after the incident came to fore, locals took the victims out of the sewer and rushed to Hamidia hospital where the condition of the boy deteriorated further while the other three victims regained consciousness after few hours. The four victims are Ajay Rawat (15), Syed Ali (50), Naushad Ali (19) and Ninshad Ali (16).

The incident took place when Ajay Singh went inside to check the sewer blockage but he was not aware of the depth and did not have expertise in the work due to which he felt suffocation and started shouting for help, hearing that Naushad who lives in the same locality went to help Ajay and found that he was lying  unconscious but before he could help Ajay he too fell unconscious.

Ninshad, who is brother of Naushad has seen Naushad entering the sewage and when he went to check his brother he also  faced the same

situation.

The father of Naushad and Ninshad, Syed Ali was informed by the locals after which he went inside but when he also did not respond, the locals pulled all the four victims and rushed to

the hospital.

The tank is around 15 feet deep and it is possible that due to the formation of poisonous gases the victims became unconscious, told a doctor attending the patients.

Ajay works at a water pouch manufacturing unit as a daily-wage worker and on Wednesday he was offered to clear the blockage of sewer line at Sharda Nagar.

The contractor Bunty who handed the work to Ajay was not present at the time of the incident. The police have not registered any case in

the incident.
