Former Congress MlA stage sit-in over ticket distribution

Resentment in State Congress over distribution of tickets in the civic elections has gone vociferous. Former MlA from Gohad Assembly constituency Ranvir Jatav on Tuesday staged a sit-in against his own party outside the State Congress office over ticket being provided to a relative of the alleged killer of his father. He is son of former Congress legislator late Makhanlal Jatav.

However, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav reacting over the issue said that he had heard Jatav’s grievance and would take an appropriate action in this regard. Earlier, Jatav, who was staging a sit-in outside the party office along with his supporters, said the Congress had given ticket for contesting for the post of councillor to the sister-in-law of Tej Narayan Shukla, who is a prime accused in his father’s murder. He demanded that Shukla and his sister-in-law Uma Shukla be expelled from the party.

He alleged that Congress legislature Party leader Satyadev Katare was providing patronage to Shukla and his sister-in-law and demanded appropriate action against him. Though the former MlA withdrew his agitation after discussion with Yadav but alleged that he has been ignored because he is Dalit. “We are paying the price of being Dalit, the leadership neglected me and my supporters because of only one reasons and that is that we are Dalit,” he added.

He said that before taking the extreme step of staging sit-in against my own party I have made complaint with Yadav in this regard but he could not take any action due to some pressure. Notably, his Ranvir’s MlA father Makhan Singh was shot dead on April 13, 2009 during the lok Sabha election.
