Forest Guard interviews for 5,005 candidates

Published on:

Candidates have been invited for interview after the Forest Guard Exam-2015 on the proportion of three candidates for one vacant post at the district level. Merit lists are being prepared district-wise. A candidate does not become eligible for interview by securing just certain percentages of marks.

In the written test of the Forest Guard Exam-2015, with minimum qualifying marks 33 or 23 per cent, 5.19 lakh candidates were successful. Of these, only 5,005 candidates were declared eligible for the second phase on the basis of the three-to-one proportion ie for total 2148 posts, and  notified category-wise for every district. Such instructions were given to computer operator. But erroneously, the computer operator declared all 5.19 lakh candidates as qualified for next phase and uploaded them on the website at 7 pm on January 30, 2016.

The error was rectified on the very next working day February 1, 2016 at 11 am and 5005 candidates were declared eligible for second phase. In some unchangeable categories, number of total eligible candidates is less than 3 times than sanctioned posts due to unavailability of candidates under this category. With this, the candidates which were outside the merit list were declared as disqualified.

Notably, Forest Guard Exam-2015 is a 2-phase selection exam. As per rules, exam is held by Professional Exam Board and interviews and physical fitness test are conducted by Forest Department. Candidates belonging to general category must obtain minimum 33 per cent and SC, ST and OBC candidates minimum 23 percent marks in written exam.

Candidates are called for interview, physical measurement and walking test on the merit list of 3-times more posts sanctioned for every district.
