Art is directly connected to soul”, says an artist Praveen Khare. Vibrant colours, narrating different stories in folk style are being put up at Rangdarshini Art Gallery Bharat Bhavan.
Praveen Khare has given the folk art an unusual approach by adding the charm of village females. In each creation of hers, women play a vital role. Interestingly, all her works are ‘women-based’ and all the works are conceptualised in the similar manner, describing the higher position and importance of women.
According to Praveen Khare, the folk art is creation of women. She says, “No festival and celebration is complete without women. In every fest a woman plays an important role. Moreover, in spiritual activities too she has a special place. She is worshipped in the form of goddess. In festival she celebrates with full ecstasy like songs dance music everything is incomplete without her.”
Every stroke of brush painted on the canvas creates a fantasy before the spectators leaving them enthralled. The folk art is all about tradition which is clearly seen in her paintings. The spectators had a look at the scenes like Narmada Jayanti Utsav, Pradosh Nitya, Vat Savitri Pooja, Pushp Vatika Mein Ram Aur Sita as they walk through the gallery. As many as 15 to 18 works are being put up at the gallery.
Other than women centered paintings, all the paintings have distinctive features portraying the scenes, birds, animals and human faces on dark and vibrant colours. Most of the paintings have brown or black base. The fine lines and geometrical figures painted in red, blue and white acrylic and oil colours make them look more appealing to the eyes. The vibrant colours in the paintings clearly define the richness and elegancy of the folk culture.
The spectators could witness the traditional folk art of different folk cultures under one roof. The exhibition is like a treat for the artists as well as the art lovers. They are really mesmerised by the art forms being displayed there. The exhibition began on Tuesday and would be on view till Sunday.
