In the gang rape case which shook the State Capital on Wednesday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, taking stern action, suspended the SHOs of three police stations and two sub-inspectors, while one CSP has been transferred.
Chouhan on Friday reviewed the episode in which the complaint of the victim was registered only after 24 hours. Besides taking stern action against the officials, Chouhan directed to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
After the Chief Minister's taking stock of the situation, the five police officers were suspended while MP Nagar CSP Kulwant Singh was attached with State Police Headquarters (PHQ).
The three suspended SHOs are Ravindra Yadav of Habibganj police, Sanjay Singh of MP Nagar and Mohit Saxena of GRP Habibganj. The two sub-inspectors suspended are RN Tekam (MP Nagar police station) and Bhawani Prasad Uikey (GRP Habibagnj police station).
The action was taken on the report submitted by DIG (Crime against Women) Sudhir Kumar laad who was instructed to inquire the negligence on the part of officials and personnel.
On Friday three accused were produced in the court under heavy security sensing that they could be attacked by people incensed over their heinous act.
Two of the accused have been sent to jail while one accused was sent under police remand.
Police have not produced the fourth accused as his identity and other details are yet to be verified.
The IG (law and Order), Makrand Deuskar, said that the details of the fourth accused are not clear.
The State Women's Commission took cognizance of the matter and has written a letter to DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla demanding action against those police officers who evaded filing of complaint on time which further augmented the suffering of the victim.
Time and again seminars are organized to sensitize the police officials and there are standing orders that they have to register an FIR first irrespective of jurisdiction of police stations, but the officials are not ready to work on those lines, it is felt.
