The Bhopalites are experiencing the whirls of laughter in a comedy theatre festival. A five-day theatre festival ‘9th Complete Theatre Festival 2015’ commenced here on Sunday at Shaheed Bhawan. Organised by Nav Nritya Theatre Institution, the festival is being held in the memory of renowned theatre choreographers Prabhat Ganguly and Padmashree Guldi would conclude on February 5.
The fest had a kick start with a comedy play ‘Sote Raho’ in which the ignorance of an individual towards the society was showcased. With the situational comedy and adding a little bit of suspense and thrill, the play was based on a concept that an individual remains in sleep all the time and he or she is not bothered about the current happenings in the society. The play is directed by Tarun Dutt Pandey and was spontaneously presented by the artists of Nav Nritya Theatre Institution, Bhopal.
Play follows the story of three families of different origins i.e. Punjabi, Madrasi and Bengali. One day, the Sardarji of Punjabi Family wanted to get a government job done. So he thought that as it is a government office they will take money to overcome this problem he invites the government officials to his place for dinner those were Madrasi and Bengali.
At the middle of the dinner, the wife of Madrasi official shouts and complaint that someone has stolen her necklace. So they call the police. As three of them were highly drunk they couldn’t realize who is who, so the police on the basis of various statements given by them arrest the Madrasi official itself. The laughter ensues when the lady realize that she wasn’t wearing any necklace as she came for the dinner party. The police then reconfirmed that who is the person arrestedIJ She says that he is her husband.
The play was presented in a satirical form making the audience realize that they should be aware of the things happening around. It was a spontaneous performance. The matured acting skills and the story line was all the charm of the play.
