The five-day Navrang Theatre Festival had a grand closure on Monday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium.
Two Hindi plays Hawalaat and Rani Nagfani Ki Kahani was presented on the concluding day of the theatre fest.
First the Hindi play Hawalaat was staged. The play is directed by Piyush Verma, lucknow. Play Hawalaat focuses upon the lifestyle the people have adopted after India got Independence. The play is a satire on society and difference in the living standard of the people.
The story surrounds four characters, which includes three teenage boys of low caste and a police constable. The boys are unemployed and to have food and shelter they ask the police constable to arrest them. The constable, however, cannot arrest them as they have not committed any crime.
All the characters left a memorable impression over the audience. The props, backdrop of the play and the poetic dialogues added more zeal in the presentation.
A Hindi play Rani Nagfani Ki Kahani was staged that showcased the selfish mentality of a group of people.
Written by a noted Hindi novelist Harishankar Parsai, the satirical play was directed by Sanghratna Bankar.
This story by Harishankar Parsai is a satire on such situations that forces the youngsters to take stern decisions collapsing themselves into other problems.
The play began with introducing two narrators, who in an unusual way recite the fantasy story.
After failing in the BA examination three times, the upset prince decides to commit suicide and asks his friend Mufatlal to do all the preparations for his suicidal event. Mufatlal after a huge argument agreed to do so. The prince asks Mufatlal to search for all the ideas of committing suicide and finally, he goes to jump from a cliff.
At the cliff, the prince meets Rani Nagfani, who was also there to commit suicide as she also failed in her examinations five times. As the conversation between them begins, they fall for each other and decide to get married. The comical situations take place after their decision, formed rest of the story of the play.
The play Rani Nagfani ki Kahani highlighted the awful situation of the society in a light hearted way. Described through situational comedy, the play was enjoyed by the audience.
