The first convocation programme for the presentation of postgraduate diploma in disaster management was held here on Wednesday. Minister for Revenue, Science and Technology Umashankar Gupta was the chief guest.
Additional Chief Secretary KK Singh, Principal Advisor of MP State Planning Commission Rajendra Kumar Mishra and Nandan Dubey Vice Chairman, Disaster Management Institute, Bhopal, Sanjeev Singh, Executive Director, DMI, KK Singh, Addl CS Home Department, Rakesh Dubey, Director, Disaster Managment Institute were present on the occasion.
The Minister, Umashankar Gupta who was the chief guest on the occasion, presented the degrees to the students. While delivering the convocation address, stressed upon the need to encourage hands-on training, called upon the students to work sincerely for the development of the nation. He suggested that the students should have big targets and work hard to achieve them. Minister thanked the dynamic managing team of DMI, which has been a consistent steering force ensuring the smooth administering of this institution and fountain head of inspiration for all. KK Singh, Addl CS Home Department was invited as a special guest for the convocation programme. Nanadan Dubey, Vice Chairman of DMI discussed about the future scope regarding the course and its applications. Sanjeev Singh, Executive Director of DMI was also present in the programmee.
The speakers highlighted the objectives and about the benefits of the course. Rajendra Mishra, Principal Advisor, MP State Planning Commission also discussed about the four basic elements of disaster management.
Surendra Singh, Vice Chairman, SDMA discussed about the Sendai Framework. Thereafter, Umashankar Gupta distributed the Marksheets and Diploma Certificates to the students, in which Vineet Saxena, Sanjula Gupta and Rahul katare bagged first, second and third positions respectively. At last VJ George, Deputy Director, DMI proposed vote of thanks.
