Media plays very important role in the democracy, said Madhya Pradesh assembly speaker Sitasharan Sharma while addressing the first meeting of the newly constituted press gallery advisory committee of the fourteenth State Assembly here on Saturday.
Sharma said, “The most beneficial system for the masses is democracy and the role of media is very important in the success of the democracy.”
Sharma further said that with the easy reach of media among the masses the information exchange becomes faster. With the extension of media democracy is becoming stronger. The press gallery advisory committee should cooperate in smooth conduct of assembly proceedings and delivering the decisions taken in the public interest in the assembly to the people, he added.
Chairman of the press gallery advisory committee and deputy speaker of the assembly Rajendra Kumar Singh said, “Madhya Pradesh has special and important place in country’s journalism arena. Media plays role of bridge between Government and people. Cooperation of media is necessary for strengthening the democracy.”
Singh further said that it is the responsibility of the press gallery advisory committee to ensure that the important personalities of journalism should get their due respect.
Earlier, the principal secretary of the Assembly Bhagwandev Israni welcomed Sharma and Singh by presenting floral bouquets. Israni also informed about the role of the committee that was followed by the introduction of the members of the committee.
The meeting was attended by the members of the committee besides secretary of the committee and commissioner public relations Rakesh Shrivastava.
