Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in a major fire in a candle and incense stick factory in lasudia Mori locality of the city here on Thursday morning. The fire spread quickly in the whole factory which was containing large stocks of wax and it took almost six hours for the fire brigade personnel to extinguish it.
The incident, according to fire brigade personnel, occurred at 5 am on Thursday. Soon after being informed the fire brigade personnel with water tankers reached the incident site to put off the fire. However, because of its enormity, it almost took six hours to put off the fire in the factory completely. By the time, fire was put off, the damage had already been done. Though exact amount of damage was not known, according to factory sources, the damage on account of fire may run into lakhs of rupees. Short circuit has been attributed to be the reason behind the incident.
