A major fire broke out at Sundar Nagar after a cooking gas cylinder exploded in which five shanties were gutted in fire in the night on Tuesday; fire broke out after a drunk woman set her shanty on fire, five families lost their shelter in the incident. According to the police a cooking gas cylinders exploded after middle-aged woman set her shanty ablaze in an inebriated state in the night on Tuesday.
Panic prevailed in the area after the fire broke damaging five shanties. On receiving the information around 5 fire tender vehicles were rushed to the spot and it took over an hour to pacify the fire, told the fire brigade officials.
The fire brigade received information after which the fire tender vehicles were rushed to the spot and started the operation. In the incident and only damage to the property was reported.
The woman who used to remain alone at the shanty was heavily drunk and set ablaze her shanty and in the fire cooking gas cylinder exploded after the fire broke out it spread in the adjacent shanties and four shanties were gutted in fire.
At the time of the incident habitants of the shanties managed to rescue. The timely action by the fire brigade averted major mishap as after reaching the spot fire was pacified in over an hour.
The accused woman escaped the spot and is still absconding, said police. Five families in the area lost their shelter in the fire and were forced to stay in open after the incident.
