The Consumer Forum has imposed a fine of Rs2,500 on the Atal City Transport limited (ACTl) for misbehaving with a customer and not allowing him to enter a bus.

Official sources said customer Ravisprakash Bansal of Indore had purchased an e-ticket in Bhopal on August 2, 2013, for travelling to Indore by ACTl chartered bus.

He reached lalghati bus stand on scheduled time to board the bus. When the bus arrived he signalled the bus to stop, but the driver did not stop. He followed the bus on a two-wheeler. On the way, he called the customer care of ACTl but the customer care officer misbehaved with him over phone and did not provide him the telephone number of the bus staff.

When the bus stopped at Bairagarh stop, the conductor refused to let Bansal enter the bus, telling him there was no seat available.Thereafter, Bansal had to purchase ticket of another bus and had to travel up to Indore. After suffering mental harassment and humiliation, Bansal sent a mail to the travel company complaining about its deficient services, but did not get any reply.

On this, Bansal moved the Consumer Court pleading that the company be directed to return his ticket money of Rs350 along with Rs20,000 as mental harassment and Rs330 for fresh ticket purchased by him for another bus.The Forum after hearing the case directed the company to pay Rs350 for the ticket and Rs2,500 as compensation for mental harassment and other expenses borne by the consumer.
