The students of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD) are learning about the facts of film-making in a film making workshop held at the MPSD campus. The workshop that began from Friday is being conducted by a renowned film writer and actor of Bollywood Atul Tiwari.
Atul is known as a writer for movies like ‘Mission Kashmir’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and ‘Yeh Faasley’. Further, he is also seen playing roles in movies like ‘3 Idiots’ and was seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s recent flick ‘PK’. Atul is teaching the students about the basics of film making and how to deal with the projects. He is emphasising upon both production and pre production aspects of film making.
The students are also enjoying learning about film making and how it is different from theatres. Notably, film-making is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performances of may be real or imagined events on screen before the audiences. Here the performers have to communicate these events through combination of gestures, speech, song, music and dance. This is what is being taught to the students in the workshop.
The students are being trained to improvise the sense of looking at things with a different perspective. Further, the students are also taught basic exercises to strengthen their thought process. This training programme further aims to free students from self consciousness and strengthen their concentration through sensory exercises. Students will be given assignments to apply in their theatrical personality and performance. Further rehearsals of acting, sound, light will be done and camera handling would also be taught. Further, more guest lecturers would also be invited to interact with the students during the workshop.
