Featuring biographical documentaries, a four-day film festival ‘Vridanta’ would be organised at Bharat Bhawan. The festival would begin here on Thursday at Abhirang Hall, Bharat Bhawan and would conclude on June 23.

Organised under Chhavi series of classical cinema the festival would screen around 10 movies. While talking to The Pioneer, in-charge of Chhavi Narendra Rai said, “For the past four years we are organising this four day film festival and have received a huge response by the audiences. Further, we aim to screen only biographical movies or documentaries which are made to promote Indian culture and traditions.” This time the movies are based on ‘Art Discipline’ that includes great and known personalities in painting, music and other art forms.

Elaborating further, Rai said, “We endeavour to screen the movies which show the purity of music, dance and creations of legendary personalities. In short, this film festival showcases colours of the country in short documentaries.” On asking about the repetition of the movies at the festival, Rai further explained, “Vridanta film festival is a festival full with the colours of different traditions and cultures so, for the past three years we keep this in mind to screen movies which have not been screened earlier. But, this time we have repeated two movies of different directors.”

This could be one of the reasons that for few Sundays’ weekly film screenings were switched off. Quoting the fact Rai said, “For past three Sundays’ we are not screening film under weekly activity due to some technical reasons and also preparations for upcoming film festival is also going on in full swing.”

The film festival would be a major attraction for the students. Many youngsters including the art lovers and theatre goers of the city would be a part of the film festival. Besides, people interested in making documentaries would also be present at the fest and enjoy watching different Indian art forms on the big screen.
