Fest to promote horticulture activities

For promoting horticulture activities in Madhya Pradesh, a horticulture festival will be held from August 10 to September 15 and a flower festival from September 25, 2015 to February 2016.Horticulture Minister Kusum Mahdele will inaugurate Horticulture and Flower Festival at Rose Garden, Bhopal on August 10. The state government has issued directives to all district collectors to organise Horticulture and Flower Festival in district on grand level. The event should be widely publicised and cooperation of public representatives and voluntary organisations should be sought for it. An action plan should be chalked out regarding continuity of the event.

The government has asked district departmental officers to ensure implementation of the programme under guidance of district collectors. Ministers in-charge of districts, MPs, MlAs and local representatives will take part in it.In plantation programme, participation of in-charge persons of schools, colleges, hospitals etc. should be ensured. Fruit-bearing and flower saplings should be planted free of cost during Festival. Concerning institution will be responsible for preparation for plantation and upkeep of plants etc. Participation of the people who plant saplings will also ensure their upkeep. Participation of all educational institutions is also being ensured.

In the presence of Principal Secretary Horticulture Praveer Krishna, several important decisions were taken regarding Festival at a meeting here today. It was decided to rename Badi Minikit Pradarshan Karyakram as ‘Phal-Badi and Sabzi Wadi Vikas Yojana’. Directives were given to chalk out action plans for 307 horticulture nurseries in the state. It was directed to develop model nurseries one by one and to set targets for all nurseries.Director Horticulture MS Dhakad, representative of Srijan organisation and officers of Horticulture Department were present on the occasion.
