While the peasants are in problems, politics has also commenced over the issue with war of words between the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP leaders.
The BJP is accusing the slackness and black-marketing in the Congress Government responsible for the situation while the ruling party has accused the BJP-led central government of creating artificial shortage of urea in the State.

Urging the Union Minister for ensuring sufficient supplies of fertilizers in Madhya Pradesh Scindia has requested him to dispatch 25 lakh metric tonnes of Urea to the state immediately.
In last few days, several Madhya Pradesh districts are facing acute shortage of urea as angry farmers are protesting the delay in supply of the fertiliser. Swinging into action, Chief Minister Kamal Nath had held marathon meeting with the officials of Dept of Agriculture.

Accusing the Modi Government of non-cooperation, Singh vowed to secure farmers’ due rights at any cost.
The Congress leaders accused the Centre for having supplied MP’s quota of fertilizers to other States.
BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal, however blamed the Congress for the mess saying the state government failed to update the demand for Urea on the portal concerned so the Centre did not offer additional supplies.
