Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday announced that bonus of Rs 150 per quintal on paddy too will be paid to farmers. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government understands the pain of the people unlike the Congress, which during its tenure had pushed the State into darkness.
Chouhan said the BJP Government was providing wheat at Rs 1 per kg, rice at Rs 2 per kg and iodised salt at Rs 1 per kg to the poor. Addressing a mammoth public meeting at Shahpura in Jabalpur district during his ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra, he said the list of beneficiaries under the scheme would be made expansive and all registered labourers, rickshaw pullers, handcart pullers and domestic helps would be included in it, he added.
Chouhan further said during the next five years, emphasis would be laid on education. He said the Congress party's agenda was removing Shivraj, but the BJP aimed at improving the State.
He said the Congress pushed the state into darkness while the BJP was committed to building new, strong and prosperous State. The Chief Minister said the Congress was not bothered about the welfare of the poor during 55 years of its rule, but the achievements of ten years of BJP rule in the State was there for all to see.
He said during the Congress rule, the students were not getting electricity, and farmers too were devoid of it. The business people too were suffering. But, during the last ten years, there had been a marked difference and all sections of people were satisfied.
