The 56 inches chest is of country’s Anndata farmers and not that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said senior Congress parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia while addressing a farmers Jan Akrosh rally at Ambah in Morena district of State on Tuesday.
Scindia, also the chief whip of Congress in lok Sabha said, “The anomalous conditions in that the famers of the State and the country are doing farming under Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule thereby could be said that it is the chest of Anndata farmers that is of 56 inches and not that of Modi.”
Earlier, on his way by-road to Ambah from Gwalior Scindia was accorded warm welcome at Morena by the local Congress leaders and workers.
Scindia addressing the rally said that the farmers of the State are facing drought, excessive rains and hail-frost and the Madhya Pradesh Government despite calling special session of the Assembly could not distribute compensation to the farmers till now. Nothing could be more shameful than this, he added.
He said that today the farmers neither have electricity, nor have water besides they are facing of problem of seed and fertilisers, in these circumstances the farmers who are doing farming and feeding the country deserve and have every right to get respect. Targeting Modi Government the Congress leader said that the government failed to implement Swaminathan Committee Report over minimum support price as per its election promise. Wherever the farmers sued to get bonus in the country was also stopped by this government and due to all this the agriculture growth rate of the country that was 4.5 per cent during Congress rule came down to just 1 per cent, he added.
He said that the minimum support price increase three- four fold during Congress regime while the condition of farmers under current regime is suffering the most.
