Four farmers from Birul Bazar, Bangaon, Guraiya and Ridhora in Madhya Pradesh were felicitated in Chhindwara on Tuesday for their success in growing superior quality Seminis vegetable hybrid seeds.

These farmers were being felicitated as part of a farmer education programme conducted by Seminis  which is the world's number one  vegetable seed brand. At this event over 150 farmers from Chhindwara and Betul participated and gained knowledge about various crop management practices.

Farmer Manish Dodke said, "I consider myself to be a progressive farmer who has been growing Seminis vegetable hybrid varieties for a long time now. My efforts, better quality and yield of Seminis vegetable hybrid seeds helped me live an improved life."

Another farmer, Ajit Sahu, sharing his experience, said that he used to farm with minimal returns while using low yielding seeds. But with the introduction of Seminis vegetable hybrid varieties to my fields he witnessed an increase in income due to better quality and yield of the vegetables. "Year on year my income increased," he added.

Seminis vegetable hybrid seeds offer farmers higher yield potential, quick maturity and uniformity in size, shape and colour as compared to using other seed varieties.

Monsanto has 11 R&D seed breeding facilities for its Seminis vegetable hybrid seeds across India, and is testing and introducing wider choices of hybrid vegetable seeds suited to diverse agronomic conditions to enable farmers to produce more, and improve their lives.
