Dejected over the loss of crops at 25 bigha land due to the recent untimely rain and hailstorm, a farmer has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Ahenti village, police said. Rakshapal Singh's body was found hanging last evening. His brother Shishupal Singh said that Rakshapal was depressed as crops in his 25 bigha land were damaged and he was not hopeful that he would receive compensation.
The body was sent for post-mortem. In another incident, Manshram Mahaur (55) died due to shock at Chandokhar village on Saturday after his crops were damaged in the natural calamity but his name was not included in the list of survey to be carried out to assess crop loss. In a panchnama submitted to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Gohad), his son Ranjeet Mahaur said that Manshram was upset after his name did not appear in the survey list. Manshram had taken 12 bigha land on rent and sowed wheat on 15 bigha land but his crops were reportedly completely destroyed.
