Gabbar Singh, a farmer of village lanch in the ravines of Datia district, has earned lakhs of rupees by growing cucumber, brinjal and other vegetables in just 1.50 to 2 bighas of land.
Village lanch is situated in Indargarh tehsil on the banks of Sindh River from where ravines start. Its resident Gabbar Singh possesses total 6 bighas of land.
When it became difficult to sustain his family through traditional farming on the land, Singh thought of doing something different and contacted officers of the Horticulture Department. Officers of the department motivated Gabbar Singh to grow vegetables with new technique and improved seeds in 2 bighas.
Soon, farming of cucumber and brinjal became a profitable occupation for him as he started to earn Rs1 to 2 lakh per annum. Now, Gabbar Singh has purchased more land in the village and increased his cultivable land to 16 bighas.
Inspired by Gabbar Singh, other farmers of the village including Dhani Ram, Pati Ram, lallu, Ramhet, Hari Parihar, Pooran Parihar etc. are also growing vegetables and earning handsome profit.
