For more than three hours police and BMC worked hard to pacify and to bring down a 28-year-old youth from a telecom tower near CM house at Polytechnic Square on Thursday. Harassed over not receiving compensation for his land, he had climbed the tower.

The youth was identified as Raisen based farmer Virendra Prajapati and failed to get compensation for land which got submerged in water under Semri Dam project.

For the past five years, Virendra tried his best to get compensation but he failed and his family which was dependent on the farm produce for living faced difficulty in those years and still they are not able to meet their needs.

Police have registered a case attempt to suicide against Virendra.

In the early morning Virendra came to the city with his family and at around 11.30 am BMC and fire-brigade received information that a youth climbed the tower after which rescue squad was rushed to spot and started to bring Virendra down.

Soon after the news spread Shymala Hills police team rushed to the spot and tried to pacify him and bring down but Virendra continued to give up his protest.

Police found that Virendra came to meet Chief Minister demanding compensation and justice for the family but failed to meet and place request after which he climbed the tower.

This is for the second time that Virendra has climbed the tower earlier in the year 2016 he did the same to attract the attention of administration for pending compensation and nothing happened even after his dangerous protest.

Congress corporators Shabista Zaki and Monu Saxena raised slogans against the government after they reached the spot.
