Congress, which is busy in preparations for the assembly elections to be held in the year 2023, will hold a conference of different sections who cater to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). In fact, in the meeting of the Front-Cell recently, it was revealed that in the name of backward class, some people of the society including Yadav, Lodhi, Kirar, Kurmi get importance, while the scope of backward class is wide.
The OBC population in Madhya Pradesh is around 50 percent. It plays a decisive role in many assembly constituencies. Be it BJP or Congress, no one can ignore them. This is the reason that both the parties are united in the matter of giving 27 percent reservation to the backward classes in the elections of panchayat and urban bodies. There is a competition between the two as to who is more benevolent of the backward classes. Shivraj government has constituted a separate Backward Classes Welfare Commission. District wise survey of OBC voters has been done to give 27 percent reservation.
Congress also does not want to leave any stone unturned in helping the backward classes, so two conferences of various social organisations associated with them have been held in the presence of State Congress President Kamal Nath.
There has been a separate conference of Kushwaha Samaj. Now conferences of other societies will be held. In fact, in the review of the Front-Cell recently, it was revealed that the names of backward classes are getting importance only to some people belonging to the society including Yadav, Lodhi, Kirar, Kurmi. Due to this the people of other society are not able to join the party.
JP Dhanopia, in-charge of the front cell, says that the scope of the backward class is wide, so now not only conferences of different sections will be held, but proper representation will also be given in the organisation. An action plan is being prepared for this. Similarly, there will also be conferences of Scheduled Castes.
