Extension of Shatabdi Ex to Habibganj unlikely soon

Chairman of Railway Board Arunendra Kumar categorically said that the issues pertaining to operation of double-decker train between Bhopal and Indore and extension of Shatabdi Express till Habibganj railway station would take more time.

While talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Kumar said that there are technical issues pertaining to double-decker train. Such problems occurred in other States too, but they would be solved soon. Regarding extension of Shatabdi Express, he said that the railways need to adjust 36 minutes and it is not an easy task. Factually, the problem is at three places in Uttar Pradesh and the department is making efforts to resolve the issues. However, he categorically denied to extend the arrival time of the train at New Delhi, which is 10.40 pm.

During his visit to railway coach factory in Chhola locality, Kumar asked the officials to renovate the whole train at a time, instead of taking one coach at a time. This would bring uniformity in the bogies, he added. He informed that bio-toilets have been introduced in 5,000 coaches so far and they would be installed in 3,000 more coaches.

Stating that Habibganj is one of those five railway stations of the country being developed as world-class, more facilities would be made available there. Kumar stated that 35 Railway Over-bridges (ROBs) and six new trains would soon come up in the West-Central railways.
