Experts talk of philosophical and spiritual base of Swaraj

Experts expressed their views on ‘Philosophical investigation of Swaraj’ and ‘Spiritual base of freedom struggle’ held on the third day of ‘Yaad Karo Qurbaani’ lecture series at Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Studies University, on Friday.

Prof SR Bhatt said that Swaraj is a comprehensive emotion and the one who adopts Swaraj is ‘Swrat’. During the Vedic age, the education of ‘Swaraj’ was given in order to know ourselves and to be self centric, he added.

According to Bhatt, the representative of self delight is in ‘Swrat’. The experience of Content and delight are the symbol of liberty. The man who depends on others and indulges in the subject instead of being ‘self centric’ becomes a dependent.

Bhatt further added that co-existence and co-operation are illustration of Swaraj and moral liberty is also important. He also talked about the loss of Indian thinking by the superficial illustrations of western thinkers.

Prof Ratneshwar Mishra said that no invader had ever tried to destroy Indian spiritual thinking because it has deep roots. Western countries are divided by modernism but India never tied itself to idealism.

He further added that Bankim Chand Chatterjee depicts cultural supremacy. Mahatma Gandhi considered western culture as wild. He said that India has given a lot on the basis of spirituality. We could give a lot of things to world on the large-scale of freedom of thought. Mishra considered ‘Englishness’ in thinking and in food as a big concern for India.

The programme was chaired by Vice Chancellor Sanchi University Prof Yajneshwar Shastri. The programme was conducted by Prabhakar Pandey. In this lecture series, lectures on Swaraj, thoughts of lokmanya Tilak and continuous struggle of Indian independence would be held on August 20.
