The Government on Monday fixed transport expenses for iodised salt and margin to be given to fair price shops under public distribution system. Since fixation of rate for year 2013-14 is under consideration, rates of cost and margin of iodised salt for only year 2012-13 have been fixed. According to it, transport expenses and margin for fair price shops is Rs 0.27.
Expenses for transport and margin is 15 paise for rural and urban area lead societies, 12 paise commission is payable to fair price shops and rate of exit of iodised salt's cost by lead societies has been fixed at 73 paise by State Civil Supplies Corporation. Thus, the consumer price of salt will be Rs 1 per kg.
