About 85 lakh more voters exercised their franchise in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections held on November 25 this year in comparison to 2008. This excessive rise in the number of the voters would for sure majorly affect the election results. The increase in polling that seems just 3.24 in terms of per cent becomes major when it comes to number of voters and this fact has been overlooked till now.
Everybody is talking about the election results in the light of polling percentage ignoring the fact that the number of persons voted this year was very high, as compared to 2008. Though the figure is expectant as the number of the voters in the State also rose by over 1 crore compared to 2008.
In 2008 Assembly election of the State 2,52,23,132 voters used their voting right while 3,37,08,643 voters used their right during the polling on November 25, 2013, an exorbitant rise of 84,85,511 voters. The poling per cent in 2008 was thus 69.28 while it reached to 72.52 in 2013, an increase of 3.24 per cent.
In 2008 the total number of voters in the State was 3,61,47,438 while in 2013 the number of voters reached to 4,64,57,724 a whopping increase of 1,03,10,286.Political pundits in the State might be overlooking this fact or are deliberately not taking account of it, at this stage but this excessive voting might prove to be the game changer for the results of the assembly election counting that would be held on December 8. However, it would be interesting to see as how much this fact would affect the results of Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls after the counting of votes that would take place on December 8.
