In yet another case of exam stress leading to suicide, a teenage student hanged himself at his rented place in scheme number 78 of city late on Saturday. This is the fourth incident in March in which students undergoing board exams have committed suicide in Indore division.
The incident came to fore late at night on Saturday when the victim Ranveer (Monu) Choudhary's father reached home and found the house locked from inside. When his son did not open the gate even after relentless efforts, he sought help from the neighbours and broke open the gate.
"Ranveer was found hanging from the ceiling. He was rushed to a local hospital with the help of neighbours and relatives but doctors declared him brought dead," said Kushwaha investigating officer from lasudia police station.
Though the family members were not in the state to comment on the issue, Ranveer's neighbors said that he was staying at the rented place along with his father since past few years after his mother's death. His elder brother is a government employee. The father-son duo hails from Haryana and was staying in the city because of the boy's education and his father's transport business.
"Ranveer was in Class XII and his state board exams were going on. He took Mathematics paper on March 9," said a local Dilip Singh.
The police, however, claimed that since no suicide note was recovered from the boy's possession and when family members were also not giving out any information, the fact that he was stresses due to exam could not be ascertained.
"The body was sent for post mortem examination and was later handed over to the family members. Further investigations in the case are on," said lasudiya police station in-charge RD Kanwa.
