Ex-CM slams Congress on urea shortage

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday slammed the new Congress Government for blaming him for the shortage of urea in the State.

Lashing out at CM Kamal Nath-led Government, Chouhan said that instead of accusing the previous Government, the Congress should concentrate on running the State efficiently. Rubbishing Congress’ claims of urea shortage, Chouhan told mediapersons, “Congress is in power in the State now, it should stop making baseless allegations and run the Government efficiently. The State has already received more than 4 lakh metric tonnes of urea till December 15, it should be distributed among farmers appropriately.” This comes amid the Congress Government waiving off loans of farmers. After winning the recently elections, the Congress Government as promised, waived farm loans. Similar announcements were made by the Congress-led governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where it uprooted the BJP and formed the government.

Meanwhile, Congress parliamentarian Ahmed Patel also criticised the central government for allegedly trying to create shortage of urea. He tweeted, “Central Government is trying to create an artificial scarcity of urea in Congress ruled states. This is not in the spirit of cooperative federalism. Their attempt to inflict distress upon farmers for political gains will not succeed.”
