Eviction notice: BJP, Cong lock horns ahead of 24 bypolls

Ahead of 24 assembly bypolls, the tussle is on the rise between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress. The State Government notices to former Congress Ministers for vacating the official bungalows added to the sourness between the two.

After serving notices to several former ministers, the Directorate of Estate officers sealed the Government bungalow of former Finance minister Tarun Bhanot on Wednesday offering him time till evening to move his belongings.Sources claimed that newly appointed BJP state president VD Sharma will be allotted this bungalow.

The officers claimed that notices were served to Bhanot twice but he did not vacate this premises prompting  to initiate Government proceedings.Bhanot who is presently in his home town Jabalpur called it an action of political vendetta.

He claimed that he and his family is stuck in Jabalpur due to lockdown and in their absence, vacating the bungalow is not proper.

He even claimed that he should be given Government accommodation in MLA’s capacity and without offering him alternate accommodation, was it justified to get his bungalow vacated.

The notices to vacate Government bungalows have been issued to other former Congress ministers including Sajjan Singh Verma, Brijendra Singh Rathore, Hukum Singh Karada, Om Prakash Markam, Priyavrat Singh, Sukhdev Panse, PC Sharma, Umang Singhar, Kamleshwar Patel, Lakahn Ghanghoria, Sachin Yadav and Surendra Singh Baghel. All these ministers continue to occupy their Government accommodations despite their Government being toppled on March 20.

Former Parliamentary Affairs minister Govind Singh too flayed the action saying the senior MLAs should be given accommodation in accordance with their designations. If this does not happen, we can remain on roads as well to serve the public, added the senior Congress leader.

BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal rejected reports of political vendetta saying the Government bungalows are being vacated in accordance with laid down procedures.
