The environment lovers took the pledge to save and conserve nature by celebrating the festivals using eco-friendly materials. A workshop will be organised for the citizens to learn how to prepare eco-friendly idols of lord Ganesha this Ganesh Chaturthi.

The workshop will be organised on August 22 by Narmada Samagra at its premises, Shivaji Nagar.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated with a lot of fervour and like every year, this year too, the eco friendly rakhis were made available by Narmada Samagra.

Further, the masses were made aware about environment conservation as well. As many as 1,264 environment lovers from 41 divisions of Narmada Samagra participated in the pledge from Jabalpur, Indore and Hoshangabad.

The environment lovers tie a knot at Narmada water urn pledging to save the environment and conserve its precious possessions.

Further, to observe the Ganesh Chaturthi this year, the people are urged to install the eco friendly Ganesh idols at their homes.

Made up of eco friendly material and coloured with herbal colours, the idol of lord Ganesha will be worshipped inside homes. According to the members of Narmada Samagara, the idols are made up of Plaster of Paris (POP) and other chemicals. The idols are also painted with artificial colours to make them look pretty and beautiful but at the same time they prove to be hazardous for the environment.

While the chemicals get mixed up with water after the immersion of the idol, it could prove to be crucial for public health as well. Further like every year, this year too, the Narmada Samagra would run a campaign Aao Banien Apne Haatho Apne Shri Ganesh urging the masses to prepare an eco friendly idol of lord Ganesha. To aware the masses as well as to make them learn how to prepare eco friendly idols a workshop will be held at Narmada Samagra premises.
