'Ensure detailed examination of sanctioned lease of ores'

Published on:

State Government has directed district collectors to ensure detailed examination of sanctioned leases of iron and manganese ores. They have been directed to ensure action if violation or irregularity is detected at any level. It has also been directed to inform Director Geology and Mining every month in this regard.

District collectors have been asked to direct their subordinate staff to undertake inspections. For this, points have also been described. If mining is closed in sanctioned mines, its reason and duration should be checked. If mining in a sanctioned mine is on then it should be ascertained whether rules and regulations and terms of agreement are being complied with there.

It has been directed to ascertain whether leaseholder is undertaking production as per quantity prescribed in approved mining plan and as per environment clearance permission. It should also be checked whether leaseholder is depositing State share payable as per rules and presenting monthly, half-yearly and annual reports. If any change has been effected in mining plan by leaseholder in sanctioned mining concessions, then officers should check whether supplementary agreement-letter has been made about amended quantity and whether leaseholder has deposited additional stamp duty and registration fees as per government orders during execution of supplementary agreement.

Similarly, if application for renewal of sanctioned mining lease is pending at district-level, then its reason should be checked. Prompt action on these applications should be ensured and sent to competent authority for disposal. It should also be checked if leaseholder has installed demarcation poles around sanctioned mining area as per prescribed norms to show its boundary clearly. It should also be ensured that the leaseholder is not undertaking mining illegally outside the sanctioned area.

It has also been said in the directives that longitude and altitude of sanctioned mines of iron and manganese ores have been shown correctly in the map.
