A 19-year-old first year engineering student of a private college allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of the College hostel under Ratibad police station area on Friday.
The deceased student has been identified as Rutvesh Saraf. He is the lone son of the family, his father Dipanshu Saraf said, who is based in Surat. Police said Saraf jumped from the 2nd floor of the hostel building and he was found in an unconscious state by the security guard of the hostel. He was immediately rushed to Hamidia hospital where he was declared dead.
The police registered a case and started investigation. The family members said Rutvesh was good at studies but was introvert. He used to keep his Facebook account lock to hide his information and interactions from strangers. He took admission in IES College in July, last year. The relatives of deceased reached the city at around 2 pm on Saturday. Police said no suicide note has been recovered from his possession, however, the deceased was chatting on Facebook till 10.56 pm and had meals with the friends at around 10.30 pm.
