A 25-year-old engineering student died after he was hit by a speeding truck at main road near Kaushal Nagar under Misrod police station area on Tuesday.
The police said that an injured youth was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.
The deceased was identified as Saleem Khan alias Mosleen Khan of Bihar and was pursing engineering from a private engineering college.
The deceased hailed from Bihar. He met accident after he aligned off the bus and was trying to cross the road on his way to home at Kaushal Nagar. The incident took place at around 8 pm.
The truck bearing registration number HR48l4054 hit the deceased and the truck driver escaped the spot leaving the truck.
The injured was rushed to Noble hospital where he died during treatment. Police were informed and after the preliminary investigation the body was sent for post mortem. The police registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC.
The errant truck driver managed to escape while the truck was seized by the police.
Based on the registration number of the truck accused driver would be searched. Police said that the search for the errant driver has been started.
During the investigation police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC was registered on Wednesday. It was found that along with pursuing engineering the deceased used to work for a private firm and had returned after the work.
