Energy Department has chalked out a new action plan for integrated electricity development. Objective of action plan is to ensure quality and constant power supply to domestic consumers for 24X7 and 10 hours daily for agriculture works.

Under the action plan in all four quarters of current year new 33/11 KV transformers will be installed and upgraded for smooth power supply, strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution system. laying of new high tension lines and AB Cables, installation of distribution transformers and giving new permanent power connections to farmers under Permanent (TC to PC) Connection Scheme.

Under the action plan, all three power distribution companies have been given target of 15 per cent more recoveries (Revenue Per Unit - RPU) and reduced AT and AC losses (Integrated technical and commercial losses) to 3 per cent. MD Power Management Company and Chairman of all 3 power distribution companies Sanjay Kumar Shukla said that all power companies are committed to achieving targets prescribed under the action plan.

At present, 16,800 MW power is available in the state. Keeping this in view, a target has been set to supply total 68,954 million unit power to consumers this year. Target has been set to supply 15,308 million units in the first quarter of the year, 14,687 million units in the second, 20,755 million units in the third quarter (October to December) Rabi season and 18,204 million units in the last quarter of the year.

In view of adequate availability of power and supply of quality and uninterrupted power, transmission system will be strengthened by constructing 54 new Extra High Tension (EHT) sub-stations this year. Besides, transformer capacity in existing sub-stations will be increased by 3,740 MVA. During the period, 925 circuit kilometer long new network of EHT lines will be laid.

There is also a scheme to construct 111 new 33/11 KV sub-stations in all 3 power distribution companies to strengthen distribution system. A target has been set to increase capacity of 322 power transformers at various places.

For constant power supply in various regions, new 1,990 km long lines of 33 KV and 18,128 km long 11 KV lines will be laid. To prevent losses and accidents, 10,816 km long AB cables will be laid. As per the action plan, all 3 power distribution companies have been entrusted responsibility to install 32 thousand 926 new distribution transformers during year 2015-16.
