The electoral process for civic bodies’ elections in Indore district will commence from Wednesday with the issuance of notification by the district administration for election to Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), the largest civic body of Madhya Pradesh.
With the issuance of election notification, the process of filing of nomination papers for the position of Corporators of 85 wards of the city as well as for the post of city mayor would also begin from Wednesday.
District collector Akash Tripathi giving details of the election scheduled for the IMC elections as fixed by the State Election Commission said the aspiring candidates can file their nomination papers for the posts of Corporators and mayors till November 12, while scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on November 13.
The candidates can withdraw their nomination forms by November 15 when final list of all the candidates seeking elections for IMC elections will be declared along with their election symbols.
The election for IMC will be held on November 28, while counting of votes will be done on December 4. According to district collector, election to remaining civic bodies in Indore district will be held on December 2.
Unlike previous elections, the elections to IMC have assumed significance with increase in number of wards and number of voters. Following gazette notification for inclusion of 29 villages under the jurisdiction of IMC, total number of wards in the city in the current elections has increased from 69 to 85 with many areas of existing wards either getting detached from its parents wards or getting to newly constituted wards.
Even as the High Court decision on inclusion of 29 villages into IMC is still subjudice, it is for sure that there would be no change in total number of newly carved wards of the city.
