In a remarkable medical feat, AIIMS Bhopal has successfully treated eight-month-old baby Hitesh, who was diagnosed with a severe case of ventricular septal defect compounded by Down syndrome. Baby Hitesh, hailing from Lalitpur, was facing a challenging journey since birth due to a large hole in his heart and the complexities associated with Down syndrome. His father tirelessly sought medical interventions across various cities in the country, only to face disappointment until he arrived at AIIMS Bhopal.

Under the expertise of the Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team led by Dr. Yogesh Niwariya, Baby Hitesh underwent a successful operation lasting two and a half hours. Despite the complexities of the case and the child's weight of only 3.3 kg, the team rose to the challenge and achieved a complete success.

Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, praised the surgical team for their exceptional skills and commitment to excellence. He reaffirmed AIIMS Bhopal's dedication to providing top-notch healthcare services, stating, "We are committed to accepting every challenge and continue to set new benchmarks in healthcare excellence."

The surgery, which addressed a condition found in about eight out of 1000 people, marks a significant milestone in pediatric cardiac care at AIIMS Bhopal. Following a week of post-operative observation, Baby Hitesh was discharged from the hospital, paving the way for a healthier future.
