As people are going fanatic about the eco-friendly Ganesha, the concept of planting a sapling after idol immersion in small field, is becoming a new trend setter. The Tree Ganesha has taken over the idea of creating the mere idols of clay.
The idea is quite simple which narrates about another dimension of divinity and spirituality. Kalpana C Kekre a Shahpura resident and founder of I-Clean Team, Bhopal is practicing the concept of Tree Ganesha from past one year. She told The Pioneer, “The intention is to grow a tree so is to believe that Ganesha lives with us.”
Kalpana began growing Tree Ganpati in year 2016. She believes that this is the finest way to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi. “I came across a video about Tree Ganesha on You-tube channel and then I thought to experiment with it. In year 2016 I prepared the Tree Ganesha and it was a success. It gives a feel as if the Ganpati is staying with us even after the festival.”
Tree Ganesha is prepared with simple steps. Get a small or a normal sized pot, fill it with soil and add the seed of any vegetable or fruit of one’s choice. It should be kept in mind that the pot should be half filled with the soil and half with the water. After adding the seeds cover it with the hand-made idol.
Once the festival is over, instead of immersion, these idols can be watered by keeping in small field, which would lead the clay idols to melt over a span of few days and eventually the seeds inside them would begin sprouting. “This concept is not only eco-friendly but it also brings us closer to Ganpati and nature as well,” she added. Kalpana believes that the concept of Tree Ganesha should get a global platform.
“Everyone is interested to by POP idols, but no one thinks about the environment. This new technique is a way to be near nature and be with God,” said Kalpana.
This year too Kalpana has prepared a Tree Ganesha at her home and even has encouraged her friends for the same. She signed off saying, “It is the time to change the perception.”
